Hierarchy & Admin

 I just wanted to voice my opinion on a matter that kind of pisses me off. We have people just joining the clan and buying admin and to me that seems kind of awkward. There should be a hierarchy where you EARN admin instead of some random person buying it. I want to be an admin, and donate to the server, but it seems odd that someone can just randomly join the clan out of nowhere and become an admin instantly.  

I bring this up because recently a brand new admin was made admin and today he abused it several times. Drugging people, and starting up sudden death out of nowhere in the beginning of the map. Now I don't take TF2 TOOO seriously, but I do find some of this pretty irritating. Again, just my 2 cents- its your clan you run it how you like. But I'd like some sort of structure to be initiated if possible.

Maybe I'm crazy-- but its just a thought.

Spoq has a point.  Perhaps we should have a few guidelines.

I'm kind of known for abusing admin, but I do know that if it will drive people out of the server its not the greatest idea.

The rules I (generally) follow:

1) If it passes a vote, then it shall be done.
2) Don't do something because I want it, do something because the players want it.
3) MarioKart (and fucked up maps like it) are fair game for pretty much anything, but if it pisses the players off it isn't good.
4) Dominator is God/Root/Console.  He will remove my admin and keep my money if I fuck his server over.

Mind you, I'm not trying to be grumpy grinch about this- I just want chaos to a minimum and only chaos if a user requests it upon him. But even then, to that extent it kind of sucks when that happens allllll the time.

Sometimes it really sucks when you just want to jump in and play TF2 and people are noclipping everywhere or just fucking around. Now don't get me wrong, I love doing that once and a while.. you know trying to build sentries on trains and stupid shit... but not ALLLL the time.

For chaos and stuff, I'd say it definitely has to be something that the people in the server want and vote for... not just based upon the admin's wants and desires for any given  moment.

Yeah I never liked the idea of random people getting admin anyway. I mean, whats's the point? There's not many people that need to be banned, admin would mainly just be used to start votes and change maps. It's not like there aren't other loyal people to fund more money for the server.

I haven't been on the server recently so I haven't experienced first hand the new admins, but I can imagine it.

And maybe its just me but lately I haven't enjoyed playing on the server because it seems most people just want to fuck around and not play the game at all. I mean, its cool to fuck around- but lets at least have a purpose to it you know.  

I REALLY REALLY REALLY highly suggest we take a look at adding some Surf maps to the map cycle for these sort of occasions. So that the people who want to actually have some fun can just surf, while the other people can fuck off or whatever.

I agree...we don't need 45 admins, although it is nice to know that even if an Admin isn't in the server...that someone can have a map vote and such.

Aside from banning people (Ive banned a few due to EXCESSIVE insubordination. An admin asks you to stop something...you stop...thats all there is to it.)

I like to have fun in the game just as much as the next guy, but just like Spoq said...it's nice to actually play the game as it was meant to be played...just as much as its nice to just fuck around sometimes.

I think we need to reevaluate the Admin process, and maybe have a graduated "heirarchy." You cant just come in and be an admin...you have to stick around and be on the server and be respectful to the other members and players on the server at any given time.

And Stobbin...I'm pretty sure the phrase "abusing" doesn't apply to other members of TD, especially other mods. Usually the "drugging" and "blinding" is done to other members...where they can kind of take a joke and laugh it off. If we started doing that to just random server players, that would be an abuse of the powers, In my opinion.

#2 TD was never about having heirarchy. We're here to have fun and play games together. Were not here to compete for officer spots. I know dom wouldn't give admin rights to the highest bidder. He makes sure theyre admin material.

#3 My view of abusing admin privileges is noclipping with the intel to win or teleporting somone in front of a sentry to get a revenge kill. Granted its really annoying when the map changes every 10 mins and somone keeps exploding.

#4 I think we should have some kind of admin school or somthing like that. Maybe a section on the forum dedicated to admins where we can post what is expected of the admins and some tutorials on how to use admin controls.

and lastly, if your still reading this, we're all friends here. im sure if somone does somthing you dont like you can tell them directly and theyll be like ok sorry man.

I think that having a few more admins would be good, but they should be picked carefully. It'll come in handy when you need an admin. A couple of days ago there was a hacker on the server for a couple of hours. Couldn't really do anything since none of the admins were on.

I wouldn't mind having admin, You guys know me pretty well. And i would pay for it but not like 15 bucks. 8-10 bucks, Cause all i want to do is change maps, do sudden death and kicks and bans. And im always on so problems like the one frost had would be delt with sooner.

If you guys want to start having admin to be purchased,would should do Basic and Full. Basic giving you simple admin commands and Full giving you the whole shibang. Basic being the cheapist and Full being the expencive of cource.

Covering what Frost said you can type votekick or voteban and select the players name and if people comply then the player will be kicked or banned.

Alfalfa admin is $5 a month.

What Dr. Spog said is correct we should have Hierarchy setup so this does not get out of hand, I thought people would respect admin more because they are paying for it and knowing they can loose admin and their money.  But I don't want it to sound like another member is better than another like Liquid said we are not about that. Me and Liquid will setup some training and guide lines for admins and I will deal with the previous ones that have abuse their powers.  Also I'm going to make a post later on applying for admin which will be a lot more strict than the joining the clan app.  I'm not to worried about admins now because we have a good amount, I'm more worried about what the things Spog came across and also glad he brought this to my attention.

The guidelines will be similar to what Stobbin said but more in-depth.  

Word is also right, I should be a little more responsible to not give admin privileges out to random people.

Yes Admin is $5 a month for clan members and $10 for non-members but I think I might change that around.

I'm willing to admit that when i first got my admin privliges i went a little overboard, and for that i apologize. I'm trying to follow the rules as best i can and i'm attempting to keep the players on the server happy. I hope we can put my rediculous behavior aside.

Votekicking or votebanning can be missused by random people on the server...imo. I really think that it should be up to the admin in the server at the time to make that type of judgement call.
