How did you find TD?

This is inspired by Dom's history of TD thread. I'm assuming that a lot of us weren't here for the beginning and I thought it would be interesting to find out how everyone ended up here.

I was always a console gamer but my little brother, (:TF2:) Element, who is a much more well-rounded gamer than I, told me that I should check out Steam and especially the Orange Box family of games. We both started our TF2 careers playing on the many servers owned under the banner The Ville then we both grew pretty tired of the massive amounts of players on The Ville servers and the arrogance displayed by some of the members of the various clans that run them. TF2 started to be less fun and I started to play less while my brother and some friends he met in game started (:TF2:) AKA Team Frag and Fun. (:TF2:)'s server took a looooong time to get going and stayed empty most of the time so while not playing there both my brother and I started looking for other places to play. I found a few that were sometimes fun but the people on them were entirely too concerned with stats and took the game way too seriously. One particularly bad night of playing TF2 on crap servers, (:TF2:) Element, IMed me and said, "You have to check out these TD guys and their server, it's pretty fun and all the guys are laid back and cool". The next day I followed the link he gave me and found out everything he said about TD was true.

In the end I decided to grace all of you with my presence by applying to become a member and now TD is the only place I play unless the map is on Goldrush ( I hate that map) or the server is full in, which case you can still find my on The Ville's custom server because it's usually empty. Team Frag and Fun started to get more popular and they offered my brother an admin spot but you can still catch him on TD now and then.

How did you find the best TF2 server around?

ah we'll, it started about 2 months ago when i first got tf2, i was leanring new things and etc,i started doing medic ahcievs then i got sick of that so i decided to look for a server to play constantly, then i hear about everyone is joining a clan... so i found Team Domination started playing and then i said we'll these guys are cool why dont i post an application and so worth and now today i am a proud member of Team Domination

I was wondering through the server list one day when the FG server was full and I didn't know about the dustbowl/goldrush server. I ended up picking out the TD server as another server i played on is called {TD} Spermy. So I was like, must be the same group (wrong) and joined the game here. It was a fun place to play and got even better when I would play at night (Central time) and Dom would make the server go bat ass insane. First time i really remember was medic only, auto taunt, always crit, jetpack mode. Basically insanity in a can. It was fun and I started to play here more ever since. And Dom helped me with making my tf2 playable due to the limits of my laptop.

Pretty much got me hooked, and no one here is a dick as far as i can tell, have that problem on another server

Lets see if I can remember that far back.

Bought AvP2 and its expansion, Primal Hunt cause I'm a big fanboy of the Alien/Predator movies and was like hey, game should be awesome as well.

Played PH the most cause expansions are usually better gameplay (balanced). Was playing in like 5 different servers, but COME GET DOMINATED was like a fuggin signal to me to rape as many people as I could LOL. Made some friends with a couple of TD members (sadly they stopped gaming shortly after that). Got a tryout and owned (was like 30 to 5 or something like that) up hardcore with my pulse rifle 1 on 1 against CloudX (he was a alien, a runner if my memory serves me) and got invited into the clan. The rest is history, literally.

I also Left out that it was me and Liquid who pretty much made this whole clan, ill edit that in.

Well I got the Orange Box and started playing all the games but TF2.  My friend who also has the Orange Box told me his favorite was TF2.  I couldn't believe him.  It looked so childish.  Anyway after getting tired of beating up on the combine and killing that evil A.I. I started really getting into TF2.  WOW (not the game mind you;) it blew me away.  I can remember how chaotic it looked when I first stepped into 2fort.  After playing a bit I started honing my skills!

Well I started fishing for servers.  There weren't many that I really enjoyed.  Then the TD popped up.  Everyone on there was cool and hilarious.  I was on when they kept playing that portal song!  I got hooked and started playing on the server a lot!  Then my computer got a virus on it.  Being away from TF2 was hard, but I think the hardest thing for me was being away from TD.  Once I got back on I found the web site and thought I'd apply.  Low and behold.... I got in!  

But this is just the beginning.  You guys don't know it but Team Domination is just the first segment in my evil plan for world Domination!  Har har haaaar!!

Got the Orange box and played the hell out of the other games, installed TF2 on a whim.  (I don't normally play multiplayer games.)  Got hopelessly addicted.
On the third day of playing I found the server.  Never looked back.  I think it was the Bake a Cake song.

I was a member of eGO for a long time, and was pretty high up in their ranks, but sometimes i needed a server to go fuck around on and have fun, and TD was perfect for it. In the end i realized i had more fun on TD in a few minutes than I would on other servers in a week.

You could kinda say TD was my hot mistress, but was too damned good to not have all the time ^_~

I DIDN'T GET THE ORANGE BOX, separate game . Well before tf2, I played a little bit of BF2, then once this cool looking game came out (Team Fortress 2), I decided to check it out, because it kind of looked like a cartoon version of BF, Once I got tf2, I immediately went to check out the servers, the first few servers I started to play on were like 24/7 Goldrush, etc. I fucking hated it, as in the map goldrush. Luckily while I was refreshing my server browser, I found a server called Team Domination, I went in and start playing on it for a few hours, and I really liked it because of the various maps, especially the custom made ones, and not just the same old shitty boring goldrush. I was in love with this server, I met alot of {TD} members, who were extremely funny and cool, and that's how I made TD my main server.

i bought the orange box and played portal twice and EP2 and peggle extreme (which was EXTREME). then i was like hmmm whats this TF2 they speak of. so i booted it up and started a lan server to see what the class thing was all about and it crashed. so i tried it again, and it crashed again. i was like WTF then steam updates came and actually fixed something. so i was like dude dom you need to try TF2. we played on the JLM (jimmie likes men) server for a bit and was like this server is the coolest. but most of the JLM people played other games so the server didnt get much attention. then one day i was at doms house and he was like "oh hey i made a TF2 server" and i was like "cool". i then became the guinea pig for the server. dom would upload sounds and maps and id go on the server and say "sweet" or "nice" if it worked or "not so much" if it didnt work. we had a good system going. and now hes running the coolest server around. blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

It was actually Liquid Snake that introduced me to TF2, I thought it was gonna be stupid and I was like no way I like HL2 except the annoying shotgun and the rpg's.

He was like dude this game rocks and it's really good, and I was like dude no way.  So I bought the orange box which is sweet and then hosted a lan server which did crash alot so we found the JLM server which took forever to download stuff at first but was all worth it and they had a really cool server which some of the sounds is were I got from them, really cool guys I just wanted to start my own server for TD so we could recruit people and not from someone else's server, that's just LAME.

I got the orange box for christmas and played a lot of servers before deciding i was good enough to start working on rank so i picked a the Gib$gub server.  Then low G got really boaring so I picked TD cause there were a lot of different maps, addedd it to my favorites and started playing the hell out of it.  Decided to try and join when i got into the top 50

I first found the team in Aliens Vs. Predator 2 Primal Hunt. I always played the server COME GET DOMINATED, I don't know why but I was always attached to it. I got in the team when some guy was trash talking everybody. I told him off and beat his ass as a runner. I played the server all day, and this guy was being a pain. But I was cool and talked to him and he left everybody alone. Dom I guess was watching, and he offered a position in the team. So I took it and became a {TD} member. I met Rasputin, Bandit, Echo, LiquidSnake, Annihilator, Dominator, and more but those are the ones I remember the most. I had great memories with the guys, and now I'm still here. I can't remember all the details of my recruition, but thats what I remeber.  However I think I'm more of a Team Allie now.

I've wanted TF2 since I saw Meet the Soldier when it first came out.  I never bought it because I didn't think my crappy comp could run it.  (It still can't entirely run it, if you see me play I lag like a fat kid in a race).  The first free weekend gave me an excuse to download that game.  It worked well enough.  A bit before the begining of this summer I found the Orange Box for 30 bucks, a deal I couldn't pass up.  I stumbled from server to server finding two that I really like. Free Beer and TD.  It wasn't until i started lurking here a week or two ago and saw how much Dom tries to keep a fun environment.  So I decided to join the forums.  Today.

I bought the orange box on a whim.  My roommate, who regurgitates everything Kotaku.com tells him, told me it was going to be great.  I was a little skeptical, but I was really the orange box poster child because I had not played any of the half-life games.  5 games for the price of one.

I played TF2 first because my roommate told me about the spy class, and I have an unhealthy obsession with stealthy evil assholes.  I didn't play on any server in particular, just whatever I saw with a low ping.  

After I had been playing a while, Dom noticed me on the server.  As I recall, it was during a game of dustbowl.  I was playing spy and I was playing pretty well at the time.  He asked if I was interested in joining {TD} because I had some skill and seemed respectful.  I was eager to join.  I think I applied the tags while the server was on floodzone.

I had been playing TF2 for a few weeks on my crappy DSL connection (which is now FiOS (hehehe)) so I searched for a server on the east coast, less then 100 latency, with people on and this server turned up. And became my favorite quickly, between the relaxed atmosphere and the people on the server. And that's my story.

i used to stomp on Dom's face on AvP2, but them TD quit playing and i was all sad and stuff... then the Orange box came out, so i got it.  then i found out from this forum that Dom had a TF2 server, so i was all "SWEET!  now i can continue stomping on Dom's face in a new game!" and yeah... now i can't stomp on dom's face anymore, i wore out my stomping boots.

seriously though, Dom and I have been friends for years, so when I found out he had a TF2 server I decided to check it out.  It had a rocky start, changed locations, and got a million sounds and maps loaded onto it.  Now it's the 1st of 2 servers that i play on.

hmm... well you can probably blame a friend of mine for it.. He had been playing TF2 nightly (although I rarely ever see him on anymore.. he plays starcraft whenever he gets a chance now)..  I had played and really enjoyed TF Classic when I used to be on modem.. I remember I could not snipe worth a damn because of my massive ping... now I know I just can't snipe..  My friend showed me a few online vids of the gameplay and I was blown away with how much nicer everything looked, so I decided to buy it..  I would have bought it in the stores, but I didn't want the Orange Box (I had played a bit of portal, but see where I would tire of it quickly, and Half life and other FPS against aliens never really interested me), so I purchased it over steam as a standalone..   Then I see it released solo in stores one week later (CURSES!)...

As far as finding the {TD} server.. Well, like a lot of people here I just chose the server based on low ping, amount of players currently, and whatever map I felt like at the moment..  {TD} happened to fit in that one day and I joined up on the server.

well i bought a HP blackbird pc and it came with orange box and graw1 (i came buckets when i got orange box)
for a long time ive been a console gamer, mostly on the 360 and i was part of a halo group on myspace called "FTF" (finish the fight)
i had been part of that group for like 2 months and because of its family like structure and large amounts of regulars i kept coming back to it and became a regular
on there i met carlos ({TD}AxCell{RS})
he posted once about how much he liked tf2 (about a week before i got my pc)
so i was happy i had a friend who played
as soon as i got on tf2 for the first time i went into a well server since axcell wasn't on
then i went on to a 2f server
Couple more servers and i got the hang of the game
then he comes on and i notice hes in a clan
i also see hes on the clan's server and i decide to join (a bit nosy arnt i?)
once i got on the server i was surprised how much they actually used a their voice chat for both team based and fun based chatting
i got my mic and started making more {TD} friends (stobbin was my first friend i think)
by the second day i got on tf2 i wouldnt join any server other than td
one day the only regulars on TD are me and dom and he suggest i join the clan, gives me the info and tells me everyone likes me so im pretty much in
about 3 days later im a clan member =]

I just played on it a few months back because it was on the top of the server list. Added it to my favorites and visited every so often until about a month ago. The only time I can first remember playing on TD was when I was running around parenting objects onto people's heads one fun-night. I go onto the server a lot more often now (though, I change my name far too fast for people to remember me); sadly, I won't be able to play TF2 for a few weeks (home for the holidays, and this computer sucks).

The second day I played TF2, I joined the server. And one of those automated messages "Add us to your favorites" was on the screen, and I was like "Alright, how do i do that?" Found out how to do that, and the rest is history. Took a long hiatus in the middle of my tenure, but the powers that be welcomed me back with open arms and broken bottles. Glad to be back.

The members were extremely entertaining ao I made a few videos. I forgot about the place for awhile, but rejoined when a member found and identified himself in one of my videos. After that. I joined the forum; which by the way is as active as the players are. I just saw this community as a thriving one, so I stuck around.

I would go over to Dictator's house and play AvP2 on a LAN with him and some other friends, then he told me about {TD}, I thought, eh it must be good if he says so, didn't know how true his words were till I played the server myself, then I asked to join, I joined for a while, then we all kinda faded from playing games for a while so I joined another clan cuz I was really bored, started a clan war and botched up two clans for people who thought they were great but were really just getting up on their high horses.

I guess I was playing Joker to their batman xD because i ruined all their plans  just by having some fun xD

but you see {TD} is one of those clans that i would never dream of getting in the way of, because simply enough, its not full of dicks and people who can't have fun.

I've poppedi n here and there since then, now im back and I've missed the group ready to play again as a member

Probably when I finally got TF2, after playing from my friend's computer, I think I was searching for a Turbine match. Looking through the choices I saw that most the of the servers that had turbine were close to empty. As I kept searching I saw the {TD} sign. I thought it was just a regular server with nothing special. It was the only server, that had turbine currently, that had many people inside. As soon as I joined the game, I was bombarded by many sounds and in an instant, I knew that I would like this server. And here I am

Lets see, I got TF2 on the insistance of a friend of mine after we were just talking about steam games and what not. I had heard about the game and honestly thought it looked kinda stupid.
Eventually i realized it was only like 10 bucks for the game so I just bought it on a whim. Played on one server for like an hour as I learned the ropes then decided to look around and see how things were like in the bigger leaques.
The very first server i found after the previously mentioned one, was TD. I didn't know it at the time but this would come to be my fav and only server. I floated around for a while but always came back to TD in the end because it was fun. Eventually I just stayed there, soon learned it was a joinable clan and decided to contribute my awesomeness to this place and boom. Here i am.

I got the Orange Box as well...big surprise!
The thing is...I got it right after I had the internet shut off at my house.
Nice.
But I played every chance I could...the only times I get to play now is on a vacation, like during spring break or on the weekends.
I think {TD} was like the 4th or 5th server I tried out, and I haven't gone to any other server since (mostly).
I told Miyuggi and CombatWombat about it, and they liked as well.
I had no idea that they became clan members until they all of a sudden had {TD} tags on their names.
And I put off joining the message boards and filling out an app for {TD} because I wasn't sure if I'd get in, since I don't play the game every day.
But I guess you guys came through in the end, and here I am now.
