Okay, I'm sure most of you have heard me scream at the top of my lungs that my computer is a piece of ass, and I know nothing about computers. This is true, but this problem I'm having now has added a scoop of shit onto all the other problems Ive had. Okay, Ive had problems with this computer before, but it's something I can deal with. Main problem was when the computer would freeze after say, 3 hours TF2 was running. I could accept this. Besides, it got me off my lazy ass to either go whack off, or go do something more important. But this problem is pretty much that other problem, but the screen acts different, and it happens and I'm not kidding, every 2 or so minutes every time I'm playing a game. Now to explain the problem.

What happens is that the screen gets disoriented, and the colors seem to either invert themselves, or the colors just change randomly. The audio either stays on a extremely short sound loop, or the sound will keep on going as if the computer was acting normally. Or sometimes it will act like a little of both. I got this problem yesterday, the day I brought Dead Space. Which was a real kick in the balls because I can't play it because of this problem. But I doubt that this is the problem, and this is comming from a guy that couldn't find the Local Disk icon until someone guided my damn hand to the My Computer shortcut Tongue. But anyways, after seeing that this problem isn't just going to solve it's self and trying to keep myself from throwing the monitor out the window, I went to go make something to eat. I come back and the screen changed to a blue screen of death, but this time it was explaining what happened. The screen was still disoriented, so it was hard to read. But I think it said my graphic or video drivers were either damaged, or out of place.

Okay, this may seem like a stupid question. But by the sounds of it, was the screen telling me to reinstall my graphic card drivers or something? And if so, how? I'm running a GeForce 8500. Not the best graphics card, but it gets the job done for me. Also, this is a custom made computer, and I didn't see what was put inside. So I won't be able to answer everything. Anyone have any idea what kind of problem I'm having?

    Delete system32, fixes everything.

Naw just kidding dont delete system32. If you know where the device manager is, go to it and find your graphics card entry. From there, click the "roll back driver" button, it'll install the last version of the driver that worked properly. Other than that, i dont know what else to say really. Hope that helps.

Ah. Well I think I found the disk used to install my drivers when I first got my graphic card. I know how to reinstall them, I just need to figure out how to uninstall them, and I need a 100% clarification as to what you're saying is true. In other words, I'm not doing anything till I know what you're saying is true. I don't think you're lying, but I need more people to post their ideas, and see if what you're saying links to what they say.

Well thanks to all, but it seems that the card is fried.. So, I'm running a sheotty 6200 GeForce now, so it lags tf2 even on the lowest settings. I'll try to get a new graphics card tomarrow. On the topic, anyone have and suggestions for what graphics card I should get that isn't insanely expensive?

Not sure about how much it is in dollars but the 9400GT is a decent graphics card, on max settings i easily get about ~35fps with it. Also it depends on what processor and memory you have because its no use buying a slick shit GFX card when youre running a really slow processor with a small amount of memory (also called bottlenecking performance).

Also, ATI+TF2 is a really bad idea, i think its something to do with the way steam (more specifically the source engine) interfaces with the ATI chipset. Im sure not every ATI user has this problem but its far from undocumented.

One more thing! xfreak stop spamming pedobear, they invented 4chan for that.

Lul. Well anyways, not sure what i'm running. I used to use some command in the run program on your start button, it let you see your specs but now Ive forgotten.

Theres another command you could use to see what you're running. Its usually called opening up your PC and looking for yourself (can also give your comp a bit of a dusting while its open). Thats normally a better idea when you want to know what your pc's running.

I do believe that CPU-z is a program that tells you about your processor and memory type/values. Its normally used for overclocking since it gives you shit-tons of mainly useless rubbish about voltages etc, but it shows exactly what model CPU you run and also how fast it's going.
