    I played the L4D2 demo yesterday and enjoyed it.

    I thought it was basically L4D but I enjoyed the new levels and I really like the new weapons - especially the melee weapons.

    Did anyone else try it out?  What did you think?

    It felt rather insubstantial, but it is just a demo.  Overall, I seem to be addicted to it, which is rather ironic because i was probably the biggest synic for this.  The weapons though, feel very weak, and I'll occasionally get a video glitch thing, but other than that I thought it was pretty impressive.  Just not sure if its worth the money.

    It was definitely very limited, such as very few places you could go inside a building and practically no place where you could take an alternate route. I can tell if the weapons are weak because I used the melee weapons the whole time because they are so strong (or the zombies were weak). Even the special zombies were weak... My team killed the tank in a matter of seconds rather than running around getting our asses kicked

    The graphics were nothing to be impressed by except for the spitter who had a neon glow from its radioactive spit which I liked. Overall I thought the demo was weak and nothing that couldnt have been modded for the original...

    not impressed.
    sure, it was a lot of fun.

    Melee weapons = BIG WIN (smashing fuckers with guitars and clubbing your teammates to death on expert is TOTALLY fine with the Tater)
    New Special Infected = Awesome... jockeys are kinda weird.... i dont like being ridden but watevs...  chargers are fun to sidestep and bash with a guitar
    Music = Totally hick-awesome
    New Grenades = Funny shit... ie Boomer Bile bomb... throw it at your teammates and run like hell... or throw it at a wall and bash the zombies with your guitar...

    buuuut all in all... it could have been done with a $20 expansion pack. I feel cheated and REFUSE to pay $45-50 for a fucking game that rips me off. Mebe when it comes down in price.. to like $20.......

    p.s.- i have no problem with playing it if someone gifts it to me... Cheesy but FUCK if im gona spend my own damn money on it

    im gonna have to agree, while i found the demo to be a nice display of the new melee weapons and the special infected that were shown, it wasnt that much different from the original L4D

    the guns did feel a little weak
    but then again all i did was get a guitar and smash their faces in . . .

    Well, me and my friends are planning to buy the 4 pack, And I calculated the price and in the L4D2 4 pack, Each game is roughly 30 dollars each. Which is an OK price, Alot better than 50 dollars.

    Here's my impressions: Good
    I was surprised my laptop could run it with 1.4ghz processor and Nvidia 105M graphics card, and it still looked pretty
    I'm mad they nerfed the pistols, now it takes 3-4 pistol shots (Not counting head-shots) to kill a regular infected
    The new special infected are great, they make the game a damn hard challenge
    The increased AI is awesome, I've had spitters attack people already incapped before anyone else, or a witch attack someone, and spitters attack the person so no one can revive them, or smokers/hunters wait until someone tries to save them to attack (they feel like real players now)
    The game is definitely harder now, and the crescendos are insane, it took me more than one try to do the alarm crescendo with another human player
    Reload times have been upped, but that just adds to the strategy, so has weapons switching.

    My only problem with it is the other players, especially in respect of melee weapons, personally i haven't used a melee weapon yet, because i knew it would make me the douche bag of the group. I've had teammates that die on NORMAL because they rush into zombie infected areas and get like 40 zombies attacking them, and if i try and shoot its almost sure ill hit them because the fuckers do some weird little melee dance. They totally ruin the team work. And the fact that pistols were nerfed does not help at all, i mean on normal 2 pistol body shots should take out a zombie... but i need 3 or 4, hell if i hit the legs i need even more.

    Human AI is stupid now, but the zombie AI is much better, and since the pistols have been nerfed i have to rely alot more on my main gun, which, when its a first tier on is bad, and in general ive noticed alot more zombies around than the last one, like after the first safe room in the courtyard theres hundreds of them, and under the freeway before the trailer too

    i like the More Zombies = More Fun rule.... i get to smash more with my guitar!!

    Pistols havnt been nerfed (i dont think).. they still kill on headshots and I never used them much anyways.

    run around with a boomer bile bomb, a machine gun, a guitar, and a defib and just eat/inject all the pills or needles you find!! you get cornered? throw a boomer bile bomb on your friends...

    running around constantly on an Adrenaline high and always having pills makes it more like the way i would be in a "real" zombie apocalypse..... stoned out of my fucking mind on morophine and crystal meth/speed running around clubbing them fuckers with a guitar!!!

    Played it with Liquid last night.

    It's the same game to me really, and I'm not really motivated to do anything besides sit in a corner and use a melee weapon.  It did seam also easier to me, I don't know if I will buy it.

    They need some more creative ideas.  However, it looks like they have them with the carnival and swamp levels.  I am sure those will be riddled with alternate routes.  I also love the idea of the jockey, spitter and charger.  While two can separate groups, the third (the jockey) can induce friendly fire damage, and in versus mode, can allow a player to control the movements of a survivor leading him or her into a spitter's spit or in range of a boomer or smoker. 

    Some new, exciting gameplay features.  I am looking forward to the new gametypes.

    Indeed.  It is still a cool gameplay feature.  I look forward to more variety in versus online.

    I find the spitter an insane threat too because on expert she can down you in like 3-5 seconds depending on health, the charger is too easy though...

    lol charger is funny when it knocks down all your teammates and carries one off into the distance... then you are running that way to go save his sorry ass when one of the remaining 3 get smokered into the other direction...     I feel that they up'd the difficulty which is nice I plan on going through the levels with a couple of buddies on release. Might even try to blind speed run it on expert which would be nice for me but god knows how long the 5 campaigns would take.

    Well I would keep my Yeah fuck that guy going but dom started saying it so I needed a new one liner that has nothing to do with the topic at hand of kinda fits.

    Also smoker isn't meant to kill you. He is meant to seperate you from the group so that the hunters and boomer can play off that or pull you off the edge of a building or death pull you.

    I should note that last night, for the first time, myself and my 2 RL buddies who regularly play easy mode together beat blood harvest on normal mode for the first time with only 1 wipe.

    The problem with alternate routes is that there are more ways for zombies to get to you.  Unless you don't mind being totally raped by zombie mobs, alternate routes probably aren't the best idea.

    Ok I played versus mode last night in L4D2 - it was ridiculously fun, I really enjoyed being the infected. I managed to bowl some people over with the charger and had the longest tongue pull on my team (woo hoo!).  So ya, I'm growing to love this game more and more....

    DUMB QUESTIONs - what the heck is the little target/sight thing that I see when a jockey is riding someone?  It looks like a scope symbol or something.

    I now realize that you can still cause friendly fire if you are aiming for a jockey and hit your opponent, but I don't get the symbol.

    also - does Boomer Bile do anything beside attract the horde to one area?  What is the best way to use it?

    Don't know about the jockey thing.

    But the boomer bile is like a pipe bomb without the explosion, It has a longer horde attract effect but theres no explosion, Its good for those running crescendos.

    Don't be so hasty to get in game; take your time positioning yourself in a smart location where the survivors either won't notice you make a quick surprise attack, or where you know a good climax will take place.  Also, try to make a move when other special infected players on your team are making their moves as well.  To be more successful the whole team must work together like the survivors do.

    Takes a lot of patience.  Try to stick to another player and go after one of the humans who are more remote from others.  Also make your shot count, if not then just run because there's really no point in claw attacking them.  Spitter is a lot of fun and I still love the hunter the most.  The boomer seems to be not as effective anymore..

    Boomer is my favorite.
    If the survivors hole up in a room with only 1 exit, hide just out of sight, around the corner of the doorway. When a big horde comes or a smoker pulls someone out, jump in front of everyones bullet fire and puke. You'll get 2 or 3 since they usually have one in the doorway crouched to hit people and one or two over top of him just shooting, so youll probably get hit by a stray bullet and explode on them. If they are really retarded, they have all four right there. Just jump out and shout "OOGA BOOGA" as you explode because they are too busy focusing on something else.

    With a 2 door exit, use the same hide trick at one doorway. As soon as a big horde comes, jump up and boom on the first guy you can. This will make the survivors have to shuffle their guarding order to get your victim out of the way of the all the zombies, and itll create a problem where they have to deal with a massive influx of zombies from that exit. This opens up a window for YOUR teammates to get their bits in, the smoker can pull the lonely guy left at the other door, and the hunter gets to jump on the unlucky bastard who runs out trying to save his friend.

    As a boomer, try and get the drop on people. Literally. Hide on top of buildings, in vents, on top of trucks, and just jump down into the middle of them. The real trick is to not be seen, so use your training in Stealth games like Splinter Cell to find a good spot.

    Another good thing to do is to bum bust. When a smoker pulls a survivor, his stupid friends try and run to rescue him. Most of the time, they all will just rush straight over there. Run up behind them and puke, and then run like hell. If the smoker is next to you when he pulls someone, puke on HIS victim, that will make it harder for his teammates to get to him, and will quicken his death so you ALL can move on to other targets.

    Trick I like to use is getting a hunter or someone to damage you to the point where you explode when you fall from your 4 story perch. Called Boomer Bombing

    With smoker, your job is not necessarily to damage the enemy as much as it is to disrupt them. The boomer brings a bunch of zombies and creates confusion, while the smoker draws immediate attention because he just took one of the survivors off and is clawing his butthole open. If he is ignored for too long, he will be too low of health to run fast enough, which is bad if the tank shows up. Also, if you are seen... you die.... sooo the fun part of the deal, is to wait until they are shooting in one direction, then run up behind them and pull someone away, that makes the survivors have to focus on a battle on two fronts. It's handy in suburban combat where someone gets boomed on and there is a massive horde coming down one end of the street, so the survivors naturally focus their attention on shooting down that direction and forget about the fact that they have a butthole just waiting to be clawed open

    As a Hunter, it helps if someone runs off by themselves, but you cant really expect to have that laid out for you at all times. One of the best times to pounce on someone is RIGHT after the survivors get boomed on... because their hud is all gooey and they have those few seconds where they cant see if someone got boomed on let alone where he is so they can help them. Another good timing trick is to wait for them to protect one or two of their precious friends because they were retarded and got boomed on, soooo you wait for the smoker to pull someone, then the last guy who ISNT boomed on... you jump on and rip their TITTIES OUT

    I dont have L4D2, so i cant really say much on the new zombies... those are just little tricks and tactics i learned from playing L4D1

    i just kept using the kill command in the console until i spawned as a hunter, it really helped me figure out things like how to wall jump etc.
