i am about to buy my project car, subaru impreza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it a 95 impreza and i am buying it for 100$!!! a valve dropped and the cylinder needs to be resleeved but fuck that ima drop a 2.5l sti into it. FUCK YES. just letting yall know

15 year old car for $100. I forget how much salt they put on roads out there in SD, so this could be a decent deal or the bottom of the car could be rusted out to no end.

nope dude kept it clean, only body damage is front right fender and some dents from hail, the bottom is pretty rust free, as well as the rest of the car.

The problem with Subaru imprezas is the engine wasn't designed for daily use, it could barely handle a couple of races when they were still in the WRC. That said, its still a beast of a car. Are you going to put a massive exhaust on it?

If he's getting the STI motor and trans it will last him awhile actually. It's the WRX motors and trans that would go faster, especially the trans. With that body though that car will pull hard, prob in the mid 12's with no mods on the motor. That being said you have a shit fuck ton of work ahead of you and I hope everything goes well so that it doesn't become a money pit and you don't get so pissed of and throw your hood through your windshield like I almost did...

i agree with dom, that's the only thing with an old car, it'll just take a lot of time and work, if ur not a patient guy i wudn't recommend it, and if it doesn't have any rust then it sounds like an amazing deal, taking out the amt of money u'll probably end up putting in it..it definitely sounds a "worth it" project! keep us posted!

i would consider myself patient, i just finished rewiring all my of my stereo system in my car and my buddy's car, which took some time to hide all the iring and amps.

motors not blown! cleaned the throttle body(old owner treated car like shit) it was black! cleaned the injectors and got it to fire up. it runs rough. it has no power even when the pedal is to the floor. there is a pinging noise in the block. im pretty sure that my timing is off and that a vavle is hitting the piston. so im pulling it apart to get to the timing belt. man boxer engines are annoying to work on. ill have pics soon.

No way the valve is hitting the piston, the engine might as well start on fire for having EXTREME blow by through the piston itself igniting the oil haha. I bet the ignition timing is just way off, highly doubt the cam timing off, that only will happen if the belt breaks and by then you're screwed... It prob though does have some blow by if they didn't take care of the oil levels and changing it..
Check the air fuel ratio and check the plugs, might as well change them actually but I bet those suckers are black.
