    So I recently fixed my laptop by replacing the motherboard, I assumed the video card went out with the common problems that the HP Dv2000's video cards getting to hot and soldering themselves out.

    So I replaced the motherboard and everything worked fine.  Today I go to bring it out of sleep mode and no dice, its doing the same thing where the screen doesn't even turn on.

    I give up and it's time for a new one.  I'm still a fan of HP and I was looking at the HPG42t series with a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5470 video card..  I was wondering what you guys thought or if anyone had any recommendations...

    I'm planing on spending $500-700 btw.  Thanks.

    I had the same problem with my lappy, i replaced the motherboard and it worked for like a day, then it went out again and I replaced the video card and it worked fine. I then put the old motherboard back in and I still have it in

    I am in the same boat as you though, my lappy is on its last legs and I'm going to be parting it out soon and am looking for a new one

    I can't replace my video card because it's part of the motherboard itself.  I really don't feel like taking it apart again and having to figure out what's wrong, plus new laptops are cheap and more powerful now.

    Idk why I made this post here... but also I just turned it on to try to do the blanket and let it heat up last hope trick and it started up just fine so wtf...  It did this last time to so idk.....
